Appointing Staff

A post with brief job description and working hours is advertised on village notice boards and the local press.

Appropriate candidates are interviewed by:

  • The Chairperson
  • Group supervisor
  • One other member of the committee

Candidates will be asked to bring along proof of identity (passport, birth certificate or driving license etc.) and proof of qualifications to the interview.

Questions at interview are the same for each candidate and notes on the candidate’s responses are taken.

Questions are based on:

  • Child development and approaches to children
  • Equal opportunities
  • Child protection
  • Practicalities
  • Experiences

The interview panel makes a majority decision as to the most suitable candidate for the job.

Successful candidates are to be supported by appropriate references, are subject to investigations by a DBS check and will be asked to sign a medical disclosure to make sure they have disclosed all relevant medical history.
